Battle on the Border: 2-2 Record in a very competitive division. Plus fun stops at the University of Tulsa and Kansas State
University along the way.
Congratulations to Diana and Brianne for being selected All-Stars for Pool A (top division)!!!
Game 1 - Missouri Valley Blazers 17 U Elite: Loss 35-48
A strong start by the Stars led to a 6 point lead mid-way through the first half and a 1
point Rising Stars lead at halftime. However, in the second half we simply could not
put the ball in the basket and the Blazers pulled away down the stretch. Congrats to
the Blazers as they went on to win the top division with an undefeated record.
Game 2 - MOKAN Eclipse 16U Red: Won 73-67
As expected the Rising Stars responded strong after only our 3rd loss of the
season. Alex was awesome from start to finish leading the team with 17 points and 11
rebounds. Brianne had a strong game with 16 points, 10 rebounds and Diana refused
to let them make a comeback by putting up 13 pts and 6 rebounds in the second half
alone. Raquel and Hanna each chipped in 8 points. A nice victory considering this
young and talented Eclipse team shot lights out from behind the arc and we missed
16 free throws.
Game 3 - Colorado Mile High Rockies 17 Black: Loss 53-56
Our 3rd game of the day (8:30pm) started slow (for us) and then got worse as
a strong Rockies team poured it on and built up a 17 point. At that point, Raquel
said enough is enough and her energy and leadership led the Stars on an incredible
run. When Raquel hit a floater in the lane and gave a 2-handed fist pump, we had
erased a 17 point deficit with a 25 point turnaround and led by 8 (51-43) with
just under 2 minutes to go in the game. If only the half was 14 minutes instead of 16
minutes, this story would end well. However, we were out of gas and to the Rockies
credit they had just enough left to pull out an exciting late night victory. It didn't
help that we missed 15 free throws in a tough 3 point loss. Alex had another strong
performance, Brianne contributed another double-double, but Raquel was the Star
leading all scorers with 14 points, intense defense and leadership. More important
than any stats though, was the smile on Raquel’s face and excitement in her eyes
during our 25 point turnaround which was truly priceless and the reason
we volunteer coaches do what we do.
Game 4 - MOKAN Eclipse 16U Black: Won 64-59
Fired up by the tough loss the night before, we simply got after it defensively
and built up a 20 point lead in the first half, led by 16 at half, and held a talented
Eclipse team to just 13 points in the first half. We knew that talented of a team
wasn't going to quit and they didn't cutting our lead to 6 at one point (made possible
by the fact that we missed 12 free throws in the second half, 14 for the game) which
made the game more exciting than it should have been but nonetheless exciting.
Alyssa finished with 10 points and 4 steals and was simply great. After seeing a lot
of double teams, Diana refused to let the comeback happen by scoring several huge
buckets down the stretch finishing with 20 points. Hanna chipped in 14, and Alex
had another strong performance.
Game 1: 53-39 Victory
Ashley Emmons led the way with 14 pts, 6 rebounds
Game 2: 53-25 Victory
Diana Omozee - 19 pts, 12 rebounds
Alyssa Echols - 17 pts, 7 rebs, 5 steals, 3 assists, 1 turnover at point guard :)
Game 3: 56-25 Victory
Raquel Wright - 16 pts, 2 rebs, 4 steals, 5 assists; Diana Omozee - 16 pts, 8 rebs.
Game 4: 64-55 Victory
Diana Omozee - 24 pts, 9 rebs, 2 assists; Ashley Emmons - 14 pts, 8 rebs, 3 steals
Alex Wolf - 7 pts, 10 rebs, 3 steals, 3 assists
Game 5: 45-30 Victory
Diana Omozee - 15 pts; Hanna Reyes - 10 pts.

5-1 and a 3rd Place finish at the FURY INVITATIONAL.
Game 1 - Extreme 212: Won 44-28
An overall solid defensive game. Diana had double digit points and 3 assists,
while Alyssa recorded 4 assists.
Game 2 - Sophia Young Elite - Red: Won 41-22
Incredible defensive performance with a special shout out to Raquel, Charisma,
and Hanna. Diana went for double digit pts while Brianne added double digit
rebounds.
Game 3 - Killeen Lady Allstars: Won 61-25
Another intense defensive performance. Offensively, Hanna was phenomenal with
a season high 25 pts, 19 in the first half alone. Diana showcased her versatility with
5 steals and 6 assists in the first half alone. Ashley tallied 18 pts, 8 rebounds for the
game shooting 60% from the field and 100% from the line.
Game 4 - D-1 Prospects: Won 54-46
After a sluggish first half and largest (10) half-time deficit of the year, the Stars
bounced back in the second half to outscore a talented D-1 team 36-18. Hanna's
(10 pts) and Alex's (8 pts & 4 rebs) in the second half sparked a fierce and
exciting rally. Ashley led all scorers with 16 pts and gave up her body taking
two critical charges during our comeback.
Game 5 - AD Elite: Lost 44-42
In the semi-finals we were hit with the perfect storm. A talented, young AD Elite
team that played their hearts out, an overconfident veteran team, an unfortunate
situation of heavy foul trouble, and a rampant case of the missed bunnies. All that
said, down 1, Hanna drained a jumper with 11 seconds to go to put us in the lead.
That girl has nerves of steel!!! Following a frantic inbounds pass and the ensuing
chaos involving a loose ball at half court, a (soon to be very happy) AD Elite player
picked it up took a couple of dribbles and heaved a buzzer beating three-pointer that
by now you know went SWISH. All I could do was stand up, smile and applaud the
incredible effort given by the AD Elite squad. It also provided an excellent teaching
opportunity regarding overconfidence :)
Game 6 - Sophia Young Elite - Red: Won 61-32
How a team responds from a heart breaking loss is a great testament to their
character. Abigail really sparked the team with 10 pts and a great attitude. I am
extremely proud of all my Stars!!
Congratulations Brianne on your Gold Medal at the Texas UIL State Track Meet !!!

TAPPS 3A STATE TRACK MEET RESULTS (May 4-5, 2012):

Heart of Texas Showcase (April 21-22, 2012)
4-0 and UCONN Division Champions!!
Weekend Highlights: What a weekend on and off the court for Rising Star athletes! On the hardwood, we went 4-0 and won the UCONN Division of the Heart of Texas showcase! (Game highlights below) Off the court, Brittany Brunson won the mile, 2-mile, and 4-400 relay at the regional track meet in south Texas on Saturday, drove to Dallas late that night and was great on Sunday knocking down several 3's, making steals, and helping to secure our championship. Abigail Moses's 4-100 relay team also qualified for state at the same track meet, drove to Dallas and helped us secure the championship on Sunday. Over the weekend, Alex Wolf and Mallory Blauser's 17U Texas Eclipse volleyball team won the championship of the Lone Star Classic Volleyball Qualifier (largest in the country) in a division of nearly 100 teams. Not only did Alex excel in volleyball this weekend, she played both hoops games on Saturday, hitting 4-5 from behind the arc and pulling down 10 boards against DFW Elite.
Game 1 - DFW Elite Washington 2013 blue: Won 63-24
Brianne, Diana, Alex, and Hanna all had double digit points.
In fact, Brianne had a double-double (pts/rebounds) in the first half alone!
Alex went 4-5 on 3's and grabbed 10 rebounds showcasing her versatility at 6'-0"
Heard quite a few Ahhhs on Diana's behind the back bounce pass to Hanna
for a left-handed finish on a full speed Rising Stars fast break :)
Game 2 - Kansas Elipse 15U Sparq: Won 43-36
Hard fought defensive game against a really good 15u squad from Wichita.
Ashley and Diana both went for double figure points in a low scoring game.
Alex, Hanna, Raquel, and Charisma all contributed critical buckets.
Awesome team defense!!! and an incredible rebound by Charisma to seal the game!
Game 3 - Texas Fire ATX: Won 52-27
We came out and just punched, getting up 39-12 at half.
Ashley and Diana again went for double digit points with Hanna (9), Brianne (8),
and Brittany (8) close behind.
Abigail, Raquel, Alyssa, and Charisma really turned up the D!!
Game 4 - Houston Fastbreakers Black: Won 57-55
In the Championship, we ran into an athletic and talented Houston team and had a
really fun and intense game. Heavy foul trouble and 14 missed free throws (10 in
the second half) made the game a bit closer than it should have been, but
everyone (minus stressed parents) loves a hard fought overtime game :)
Ashley and Diana went for double-doubles, with Brianne close behind even though
she was saddled with foul trouble all game.
Hanna added 10 points and six boards from the 2 guard position and was GREAT!!
Alyssa's stat line was: 13 pts, 3 rebs, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 turnover. AWESOME!!
Brittany hit a critical 3, and along with Charisma, Raquel and Abigail contributed
key minutes defensively.
